Pharmacology

Pharmacology is a science which deals with the study of drugs.The term Pharmacology has been derived from two Greek Word Pharmakon, which means drugs and logos which means study(discourse).

Drugs

A drugs is a substance used in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases.According to WHO,a drug is any substance or products that is used or is intended to be used to modify or explore physiological system or pathological states for the benefit of the recipient.

Drugs which prevent a disease are called prophylactic drugs e.g.Vaccines.Thus Pharmacology is a science dealing with the effective and safe use of drugs for prevention, diagnosis and therapeutics purposes.
