Suryakumar Yadav likely to lead Team India in T20I series against Ireland
No.1-ranked T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav may be asked to lead Team India during the upcoming T20I series against Ireland in absence of Hardik Pandya.
The Men in Blue are scheduled to play eight white-ball contests (three ODIs and five T20Is) in the Caribbean from July 27 to August 13. The three-match away series against Ireland, meanwhile, is slated to begin on18 August 2023.
According to a report by the Times of India, Suryakumar Yadav might lead India against Ireland in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who is expected to be rested as part of workload management, keeping the bigger 50-over assignments on the horizon in mind.
With India’s T20 skipper Hardik Pandya likely to be rested for the three-match series against Ireland beginning August 18, Suryakumar Yadav, India’s vice-captain in the shortest format, could be asked to captain the side.
The three-match T20I series is to be held in Ireland from August 18 to 23, followed by the Asia Cup 2023 from August 30. To prepare for these events, Team India may give chances to young players, including those who are part of the squad for the Asian Games.
